Happy Valentine's Day to all who celebrate it!

Image
I hope that you had a fantastic weekend and that you are happily enjoying Valentine's Day with your loved ones. Even with all of the lovey dovey ness of the weekend, it still doesn't change one thing--it's time to bring tomorrow's Monday morning positivity to your inbox! Let's do this! If you know me personally,  then you probably already know that I am a people-pleaser. It has been a lifelong battle of mine, and it has afforded me a career in customer service for many years but the key to my survival was to find the courage to say "No" to other people (especially to the people who weren't used to hearing it from me.) If this is something that you struggle with too, then this week's blog post is definitely for you. If you have ever found yourself doing something and questioned why in the world you were doing it....you were probably trying to please someone else. Pleasing someone is different than helping someone alth...

Cize Up My World and Make It Look Easy!

Image
“Don’t say you can’t dance, because anyone can dance.” —Shaun T What a week....I've been doing Hammer and Chisel's 60 day program for 33 days and today marks day 34. It's been a fun program and I truly feel I'm getting stronger and more "chiseled" especially in my butt & arms. I also have started Cize which is a 6 weeks program and you practice the same routine for 7 days in a row to get really good at it and during those 7 days you begin to feel more agile and mobile.....you get a confidence in your moves because you've been practicing! It has improved my cardio, for sure! Today is Saturday and I'm embarrassed and still proud to say that Hubs and I stayed in bed with our cats and Netflix until 1230pm! He had a tough work week and I had a late night last night so I guess we needed the rest. Taking time to breath and just be in the moment is something I am learning to do and appreciate being able to do lately. It really feels good t...

3 ways you Self Sabotage without realizing it

Image
My last post was about procrastination and that falls hand in hand to today's post, Self Sabotage! I have to admit I'm guilty of this and it's an easy habit to fall into. Did I say habit? Why would I allow self sabotage to become a habit? Because until you realize you are doing it......you'll keep repeating the process and it will feel natural. What is self sabotage and how does it differ from procrastination? Procrastination can lead or cause to self sabotage or it can just defer a task temporarily. Let's define self sabotage first of all....There's the clinical definition: Behavior that creates problems or interferes with completing long-standing goals. Do you know you have work to do or a project or a mission to accomplish and can't seem to get to it or to get it to completion? 3 ways to recognize self sabotage: Do you rationalize that there are other priorities that should be more important than your long-standing goal and for the sake o...

6 Tips for Procrastinators Who Are Ready To Make Lasting Changes

Image
It has happened to all of us. I have put something off until later and it never came to realization. I've had friends with projects they talked about but never came to fruition. It's so easy to procrastinate and January is the month of the year with the most depression and break ups and not exactly bright and cheery weather. It's so easy to stay in bed under covers, back out of social invites, skip the workout, and order Chinese. I consider myself a productive person but I will admit that I hate waking up early and I especially hate waking up to an alarm. I much prefer waking naturally as light filters into the room or as my cat starts pawing at my blanket for food. Successful people get up early, right? Well, I am only covering procrastination right now :) Why do we procrastinate? Do we think that it'll feel better to do something later than right that instant? I'll be stronger tomorrow than I am today? I'll have more willpower next week than this week? H...

Team Beachbody Super Sunday, Frisco, TX 01/10/16 #Tbbdallas

Image
Last Sunday I had the opportunity to participate with 1500 other friends and colleagues in the largest Team Beachbody event held in Texas. I was able to sample the new Shakeology flavor, Cafe Latte, before it was available to the public, meet new friends and take pictures with Autumn Calabrese, creator of 21dayfix & 21dayfixextreme  and get workout & nutrition tips regarding her newest co-creation, Hammer & Chisel. Hubs came along & we had great seats for sessions by Casey Walker, Amber Blanche, Danielle Natoni, & Jeremy Redd. There were prizes & photo booths and a fun dance/workout at the end. What a great day! I met many other Beachbody coaches and well as regular folks who were just fans of the workouts. During the day, any picture tagged #tbbdallas on Instagram was projected up on a big screen so you could actually see your pictures and so could everyone else - it was more fun than the last one I remember! Do you know exactly what ...

Chisel: (verb) to cut or shape something with a chisel

Day's 5 & 6 of Hammer & Chisel have worked me over. Surprisingly, I'm not as sore as I expected to be which has me worried that I need heavier weights. I was taking this first week instride along with learning the program I was using moderate weights...5lbs for dual weighted moves, 8lb for single weighted moves.....I was exerted but not depleted. This next week I'll have to pump up the volume....the weight, that is. Santa Fe Stuffed Peppers-Fixate cookbook Ingredients  4 medium bell peppers, cut in half  2 tsp olive oil  1 cup chopped onion  3 clove Garlic, finely chopped  1 1/2 pounds raw chicken chopped into 3/4" pieces  1 tsp chili powder  1 tsp cumin  1/2 tsp sea salt  1/2 tsp ground black pepper  1 cup low sodium no salt added tomato sauce  2 cups cooked quinoa  1 cup canned black beans, drained  1 cup frozen corn kernels  5 Tbsp cilantro, reserve ...
